What is Healthy Bundles?
  • Healthy Bundles provides nutritious food to pregnant women or women with children under the age of one.

  • Healthy Bundles recognizes that women who are pregnant or breastfeeding have higher nutrient and energy needs than most women. 

  • Healthy Bundles provides nutritious food options to women who may not otherwise have access to these healthy foods.

  • Healthy bundles aim to ensure clients receive the necessary nutrients to feel good, have energy, to support a healthy pregnancy.

  • Healthy Bundles is committed to helping the youngest and arguably most vulnerable, who are children aged one and younger. Health and nutrition during the first year of life is critical. Proper nutrition and support ensures a solid and healthy foundation is provided for the rest of their lives.

Eligibility criteria
  • If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, proof of pregnancy from a doctor.

  • If you have a baby one year of age or younger, proof of guardianship and Alberta Health Care Card.

  • Healthy Bundles moms must be registered with the Medicine Hat & District Food Bank.

  • ID would be required for every adult in the household.

  • Alberta Health Care Card for every member of the household.

  • Proof of Medicine Hat area address.

  • Proof of low income.

Now that I am registered what can I expect?
  • If you are pregnant, or are breastfeeding you will receive milk.

  • If you are formula feeding, you will receive formula, not milk.

  • When available, diapers, iron fortified infant cereal and age appropriate baby foods will be included in your healthy bundle.

  • Healthy Bundles mom’s, while pregnant or nursing will have access to eggs, milk, juice and fresh vegetables once a week and regular groceries every second week if needed.
