The Root Cellar Food & Wellness Hub is now able to take wild game donations thanks to the Hunter's Sharing the Harvest Program. Local hunter's now have the ability to donate to our families in a unique way. We are also partnered with the Medicine Hat Fish & Game Association and Premium Sausage.

Bring your Harvested Elk, Deer or Moose to Premium Sausage in Seven Persons within their regular business hours.

Animal must be skinned, have proof of sex attached and you must supply internal organs for inspection (heart, liver lungs) and bagged separately. Heads need to be attached and submitted for CWD testing.

All animals are processed into ground meat and put into our external freezer on site ( provided by the Medicine Hat Fish & Game Association) to await CWD results. Once cleared with a negative result, staff from the Root Cellar pick up the meat for client distribution. All animals testing positive for CWD will be destroyed by a local Fish & Wildlife Officer.

The Hunter's Sharing the Harvest Program pays for all processing fees so there is no cost to the hunter because they pay the butcher directly.
